It looks like they did a good job on all the other work did, so I would say used new barrings. 3 liter remained engine to your application. Up for sale: 1997 vortec 4.

I did not take the oil pan off because you can't tell if they used new barrings anyways. I purchased it in a estate sale, so took the heads off to make sure was redone and looked good.
